Grumpy rants
Sep. 7th, 2007 05:46 pmGood god word processors suck. They always, always end up in ad-hoc, screwed-up, inconsistent formatting for any large structured document. And you can't even tell where the screwups are to fix them, because all the magical formatting tags are invisible. Hate, hate, hate, hate, loathe and despise.
I'm not sure quite what's sucking amongst the X clipboard, gucharmap and emacs, but something in the mix means that although I can paste characters, as utf-8, into a terminal from gucharmap, when I paste into emacs they get turned into similar but different characters in emacs' internal encoding, which it is then incapable of encoding back into utf-8.
And the various cords on my desk keep getting tangled and caught.
*grinds teeth*
